PGY 4 - Chief Resident

Dr. June Kunapareddy

June is our Chief Resident of the Dermatology Program. She grew up in Indianapolis and attended Marian University for her undergraduate degree. Before entering medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, she received a Master of Public Health degree at Indiana University. She enjoys traveling and it is a life goal of hers to travel to a new country every year. June chose Broward Health Medical Center for her Dermatology residency because she knew she would get the excellent training that she desires. At this program, Residents are able to see a wide range of pathology as it presents clinically on a very diverse patient population. Dermatology encompasses a large breadth of disease entities, and she believes it is important to have hands-on clinical exposure as much as possible during training. The program faculty and leadership embody individuals who truly care about creating the best learning opportunities and are truly invested in the residents. These are the qualities that are were most important to her and that she truly valued when looking for a training program.

Dr. Trevor Batty

Trevor is proud to be a part of Broward Health Medical Center Dermatology Residency Program. From day one he says that he felt a strong connection to the program and the residents. He continues to be impressed by the program's growth and leadership in preparing him to become an excellent dermatologist. His personal experiences with dermatologic diseases and the effects those diseases have on his patients and loved ones is what led him to become a dermatologist. In his spare time, he enjoys activities with my family, playing and watching sports, trying new foods, and multiple outdoor activities.

Dr. Miguel Villacorta

Miguel Villacorta DO, MPH, graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine, a Master’s degree in Public Health, and a Certificate in Interprofessional Leadership and Education. He brings a unique insight to medicine with prior work experiences as an engineer for NASA and UPS. Miguel also has a background in business development and teaching and hopes to incorporate these qualities into his current and future endeavors in healthcare. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, and basic Serbo-Croatian. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, photography, and spending time with his family. PGY 3 - Assistant Chief Resident

Dr. Brooke Wehausen

Brooke grew up in Southern Maryland in a suburban town outside of Washington, D.C. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Before attending medical school, she worked as a Medical Assistant in a dermatology office, where her love for the field continued to grow. She returned back to Blacksburg, VA for medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and for her internship year as a resident at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery. She is honored to be a dermatology resident at Broward Health to fulfill her long-term goal of becoming a dermatologist and she is very excited to train in South Florida.

Dr. Roxanna Arakozie

Roxanna was born and raised in the East Bay Area of northern California. She attended college in UC Santa Cruz, where she studied Cellular, Molecular & Developmental Biology. As an undergraduate, she worked as a resident assistant and spent countless hours volunteering with and counseling local teens, as social justice and empowering at risk groups is a passion for her. After graduating, Roxanna pursued teaching special education for two years. She attended medical school at Touro University Nevada and was on the student body for three years, in addition to being an academic tutor. Roxanna completed her traditional rotating internship at Larkin Community Hospital in South Miami. It is truly a pleasure and an honor for her to be apart of Broward Dermatology. Roxanna looks forward to continuing to enlighten herself academically, socially, and spiritually. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting family, gardening, cooking, and catching rays at the beach.

Dr. Brandon Basehore

Brandon grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia and attended Virginia Tech (Let's Go Hokies!) for undergraduate, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. After undergraduate he pursued his interest in outdoor recreation and spent a year living in Vail, Colorado. He returned to the east coast to attend West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, serving in a number of different leadership positions including SGA President and Student Ambassador to the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. After graduating medical school Brandon completed a Traditional Rotating Internship at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia. His interests outside of the field of dermatology include snowboarding, live sports, and long walks on the beach.

Dr. Jaclyn Smith

Dr. Smith was born and raised in South Florida. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Miami where she majored in Biology and completed minors in both Art and Chemistry. She then attended the University of Florida College of Medicine (UF COM) to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. During her medical school career, she elected to complete a psoriasis dermatology research fellowship at Wake Forest. After returning to UF COM to complete her final year, she moved back home, where she completed her internal medicine preliminary year at University of Miami’s Holy Cross program. In her spare time, she enjoys painting, baking, exercising, knitting, and spending time with her family. She looks forward to continuing her career here in South Florida.

Benny Wu

Dr. Benny Wu

Benny was born in Taipei, Taiwan and immigrated to the United States (Cupertino, California) when he was 10 years-old. Before medical school, he was a figure skater for thirteen years - competed on the national and international level. He graduated from the University of California at Irvine (Irvine, California) the same year he decided to end his competitive skating career. Before medical school, Benny became interested in medical research while he earned a Master's of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. This led him to enroll in the combined D.O./Ph.D. program at Rowan University in 2009. Upon graduation from Rowan University in 2016, Benny completed an intense but rewarding Medicine-Preliminary internship year at Drexel/Hahnemann University Hospital in the 'City of Brotherly Love' (Philadelphia, PA). After his internship year, Benny fully immersed him in Dermatology clinical research by completing a Dermatology Clinical Research Fellowship at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Besides immunodermatology and translational research, he is passionate about mentoring medical students serious about pursuing Dermatology. Outside of Dermatology, Benny enjoys cycling, completing workouts that incorporate stability, endurance, strength, and athletic power, cooking, baking, and traveling. His next dream vacation spot is South Africa (cage dive with Great Whites).
